Robyn Haley Civil Marriage Celebrant

Name: Robyn Haley
Position: Owner/ Operator
Website: www.idosayido.com.au
Location: Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia

I assist clients with the legal paperwork they require for their Marriage, and I also help them to plan and organise their marriage ceremony.

What products/services do you offer?

Weddings, Renewal of Vows, Commitment Ceremonies

Why did you start your business and how long have you been running it?

I became a marriage celebrant five years ago because it is such a rewarding occupation. You have the joy of sharing one of the most important days of a couple’s life.

What struggles do you think most businesses face in your industry and what would you say they need to do to overcome them?

I don’t think couples understand the legal responsibilities that celebrants have which justifies our fee.  Couples don’t hesitate to spend big on the venue, flowers, cake etc. and balk at the celebrant’s fee.  But, without the celebrant there is no marriage.

What has been your greatest accomplishment?

Creating beautiful wedding ceremonies for my brides and grooms.

What has been your biggest ‘fail’ so far?

I don’t look on things as a ‘fail’, they are lessons learnt.

What do you love most about your business?

The sense of accomplishment when I introduce a newly Married couple as ‘Mr and Mrs’.

What do you find most challenging?

Marketing myself.

How do you promote your business (please include as many details as you can)?

Magazine advertising, online advertising, website, Facebook.

What business skills do you have (eg. graphic design, customer service)?

Marketing, Sales and Customer Service.

What software did you/your designer use to create your website (eg. WordPress, Wix)?

WordPress

What are some of your favourite business tools and apps?

Facebook but am not great with social media.

What do you like about your website and what’s not working for you?

I like the layout but am not getting many enquiries.

What lessons have you learnt during your time as an entrepreneur?

Perseverance and know your goals.

What key tips for success in business would you like to share with others?

Be yourself; don’t put on a persona because it’s what you think people want to see. Be genuine and listen to clients requirements, understand them and connect with them

What is the one thing that you want everyone to take away from this post?

I love what I do and genuinely care about my clients.
