Why did you start your business and how long have you been running it?

I studied organizational behavior while pursuing my MBA and discovered the impact organizing has on our lives. With this knowledge and my desire to help others, I founded Sacred Space Organizing. It has been an awesome journey so far and I am grateful for having an opportunity to help others make their home a sacred space.

What struggles do you think most businesses face in your industry and what would you say they need to do to overcome them?

It can be difficult to get noticed among the number of professional organizers to choose from. It’s important to have a clear-cut message of what sets you apart and create a personal brand that is effectively promoted. Find your niche and play into your strengths and solve your clients problems better than anyone in your field.

What has been your greatest accomplishment?

My greatest accomplishment is taking the first step to starting my own business. Just convincing myself that I could do it was half the battle. I can honestly say that “Sacred Space Organizing has helped define who I am today. I love inspiring others and helping clients simplify their lives. It’s truly my life’s intention.”

What has been your biggest ‘fail’ so far?

Trying to do everything on my own. However, in 2019 – I welcomed a successful female business entrepreneur and Professional Organizers as my business partner. I believe that two heads are better than one. This allows more time to focus on our mission and fulfill the needs of our clients.

What do you love most about your business?

I love sharing my knowledge and organizational skills with clients who let us into their hearts and homes. It is so rewarding to guide others on a path to a clutter-free life filled with peace and joy.
Serving our clients is just the beginning of the happiness we experience through our work. We are delighted to help people in our communities live better lives by sharing the things our clients no longer need or treasure. Through our Blessing Our Neighbors project, we can change lives, honor the earth and bless our neighbors in need. We are honored to head this initiative that embraces opportunity, prosperity and purpose for all.

What do you find most challenging?

Learning to understand the reasoning behind a client’s desire to hold on to things. Stuff has a powerful grip on our lives.

Often it is difficult to let go of the things we accumulate over time. Everyone’s situation is different and have various underlying reasons for holding on to possessions. Some clients hold on to everything. Whether it’s a sweatshirt dating back to high school or a cute little dress that doesn’t fit anymore or magazines that are buried beneath magazines from 1964. The chances of wearing the sweatshirt or reading the outdated magazines are highly unlikely.

The question is why do we hang on to so many things? Sometimes we need to put on our therapist hat and gently guide clients to sort through the memories and boxes of stuff.

Helping people discard is one of the most difficult aspects of our job, but it can also be the most rewarding when we simplify life with intention
